I've been holding off on recs until I had a few, and I have been reading really slowly this year. How do you all read so fast?! Anyway, as a result, two out of my three recs here are gifts for ME! I was a VERY lucky girl this year and I couldn't have hoped for more! So, here we go! (Yes, I KNOW some of these have already been heavily recced, but perhaps some on my flist are slow like me!)

Okay, I'll be honest. Slutty!Remus is not something I tend to "get." I read it (who wouldn't, I ask?!) I can enjoy it, too, though I tend to stick with authors I know I like for my slutty!Remus needs. *G* I just can't see him that way without a reason... and, boy, does this Remus have a reason! This is absolutely brilliant Remus characterization. He's so hurt and lonely and self-destructive... and yet he's still Remus, and he's still strong-willed and kind and gentle and hesitant in that way that younger Remus tends to be. That's, of course, not all there is to this. Severus is wonderful as well in his reactions to being indoctrinated into gay muggle life and the details and supporting characters in the Muggle gay scene are awesome. Remus being pet to one Miss Ambrosia Velure is to die for. Really, this is a great read!

This was wonderful! A great balance of humor and wibbles that had me grinning the whole time. A really great twist on the Tonks/Teddy situation, and the supporting cast is especially well-used. *ahem* OMG EILEEN EILEEN EILEEN AJKGHAJK;G!!! *cough* Okay, if you know me, you know I love Eileen, and she's only in it briefly, but I LOVED her SO much! I couldn't have hoped for anything more with prompt, and if I said more, I'd be ruining things you you guys. So, just go read it, even if mpreg isn't generally your thing. It's really very lovely. :)

Post-war Alternate Reality. It's been three months of (admittedly good) shagging, but Severus wants to know where he stands with Remus and takes drastic measures to find out.

I love the push and pull between Severus and Remus here, as Severus tries to figure out where he stands and Remus tries to keep himself curled up in his protective shell. Severus' inner voice is perfect, complex and insecure, and just lovely. I love that the cross-dressing was there for a reason - and what a reason! - and not just kink for the sake of kink (not that there's anything wrong with that!) LOVED! And if you can handle cross-dressing (or even if you're on the fence regarding it), you should go read it! :)

In fact, pretty!Snape icon, because we all know deep down he's a queen! :P

I've been, for some reason, craving a re-read of odogoddess' Without a Word (Snape/Lupin, NC-17, fairly heavy warnings), which was written for my snupin fantasy fest prompt this year. It's been rattling around my head for the last few days and, if you haven't read it (and can stomach the warnings), you should definitely click the linkage and read it.

I'm not sure why, but it's got me really wanting to read some good disability fic lately (I actually surprised even myself by listing it as a "kink" on my merry_smutmas request). So up there is my rec for you guys! Do you know of any any good ones I should read? I prefer Snape/Lupin, but I'll read pretty much anything with Snape (except for fics in which Harry, Ron, Hermione or Sirius are his partner), even het if the pairing intrigues me (Snuna disability fics, anyone?), and I would prefer him to be the one with the disability (unless it's Snupin - I'd be fine with disabling Remus instead). Any rating is fine (though I am siting here at work, which is why I'm not reading the fic I recced right now *g*, so lower rated fics would be just as appreciated as teh prony ones), and please don't be too shy to even pimp your own work.
